Nigeria FoRB Media Training Fellowship

Develop your story alongside fellow FoRB advocates!

Do you want to become a media advocate for human rights and freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) in Nigeria and beyond?

This media fellowship is free for qualified participants from Nigeria (ie. filmmakers, reporters, journalists, and social media influencers). Should you wish to apply, please submit a CV, a photo of yourself, and links to your social media profiles and past media projects to shirin@empowerwomen.media. Only 30 spots available.

During the 6-month media training fellowship, participants will receive instruction from human rights and media experts to develop short films and social media projects for an international impact.

Upon finishing the media fellowship, a certificate of completion will be awarded. The resulting films will be submitted to the 2024 EWM FoRB film competition with the chance of the filmmakers winning cash prizes and being highlighted in international press releases and film screening events.

All participants must agree to:

• Synchronous online workshops (2 hours a month)

• Find strong internet connection (Zoom)

• Keep webcam on during online course

• Complete weekly homework assignments (2-3 hours a week)

• Development of clear media goals and plan of action

• Submit monthly progress reports

• Communicate with mentors and trainers

• Look for sponsors to fund media project (if needed)

• Produce a media project by June 1, 2024

• Submit final projects to the 2024 film competition.
